My baby is now 8 months & 3 weeks old. When I first conceived, I did not even think what life would be after her. Neither did I think, how will I bring her up? I was so thrilled to be pregnant that all these questions did not even occur to me. I started shopping for her when I was about 8 + months pregnant and to an extent it was understood that I will do or Shoppe exactly how my elder sister had done for her 2 kids. I guess we all live with that mindset that follow the person in your family or friends circle who has delivered before you :-).
So from crib, to changing table to macintosh, to baby toiletries, baby scissors for nail clipping & no nail cutter. I shopped everything.
But when it came to her poopoo n pee pee (well that’s what they say for babies potty n susu :-)) I did not even research on any diapers and straight away asked my mom / sister to buy and send me nappies from India. Also I was made to believe that cotton should be closest to them and no synthetic or any other material. Since that’s the most sensitive area and more so they are infants.
So here I got a bundle of cotton colorful nappies that mummy carried with her to Bangkok soon after my delivery.
Lots n lots of efforts went by in changing her nappy precisely after every 35-45 min. At times you will forget that she is crying because her nappy is wet and you would just pick her up & caress her & hug her, try to burp her etc etc.And here she would be in wet nappy until it will dawn upon you to check it..I mean c`mon it can slip from your mind if you have to check every now n then plus there is so much that could bother a new born :-).
They say a new born sleeps for about 16-18 hrs a day or at least should. My baby would sleep for only about 12 -13 hrs at max. But poor baby how would she sleep also, she would be wet every now & then & hence would wake up. Picking her up changing her and then trying to make her sleep...Ah!! Not Possible! She is not a machine who has a switch on & a switch off. All this would result in less sleep, not hungry enough, perpetually tired, cranky and no more a happy child. Definitely not good for her growth. But at least I was sure that she is in all cloth: P.
Assuming, my mom and every elder person in the family were happy too.
But my baby...NO!!
So, here`s my take on Diapers.
All those people who are against diapers are the ones who belong to that era where there were not enough diaper brands in the market , companies had not invested their resources in developing the best and the safest technology for diapers and above all diapers belonged to the riches :) because they were expensive and not too many brands in the market.
Now so much extensive research has been done and there are so many varieties of diapers available in the market. Not like the old days that it would give a rash, expensive and kids are not happy wearing one fat piece which usually is hanging out of their clothes .They are now developed with utmost care and has the best technology in place. No rash in fact if you touch the base you can feel how soft they are. They are affordable, they are thin and kids are happy because at a stretch kids can sleep for 4-5 hrs and if they cry in between you certainly know it’s not because of pee pee..
A good diaper contributes to a healthy & happy development of a child!!
So all you new moms or moms in dilemma, this is from a mother - Switch to Diapers. You probably don`t but your baby needs it!

Few things to keep in mind before selecting which diaper brand would best suit your child:
Ø Pick up the diaper brand as per your baby’s weight and age. All diaper brands have that printed on the pack.
Ø Do not pick up a size bigger since then diaper will not be properly fitted and it will leak.
Ø Bring the smallest pack available and see if it suits your baby’s skin type (to be double sure ) and if it does then go in for a bigger pack.
Ø Remember Babies grow really fast in the first few months of life and may well double their birth weight in just 2 or three months, so don’t buy too many of the small size diapers.
Just keep some above basic things in mind and that`s it!
Enjoy seeing your baby grow to the fullest and savor it!!!
